Kirkin' o' the Tartan
A church service to celebrate Scottish heritage and culture, hosted by the Canterbury Scottish Heritage Council. Many of the Scottish groups and societies present in Canterbury today were founded in the period 1940 to 1970, making an important contribution to Canterbury life during this period and up to the present day. We celebrate the continuing efforts of their members in fostering a knowledge of Scottish heritage, history and culture that adds to the rich tapestry that is Christchurch and Canterbury today. Afternoon tea will served at the conclusion of the service.

Celebration of 150 years of the Formation of District Grand Lodge S.I (U.K)
Come join the District Grand Lodge, South Island (English Constitution) at a special church service to mark the 150th anniversary of the Lodge's establishment. By 1859 three lodges had been established at Lyttelton, Christchurch and Kaiapoi, enabling the formation of a Provincial Grand Lodge for the Canterbury District. In time it was renamed the District Grand Lodge, South Island. The events being held this weekend are to celebrate these beginnings and acknowledge the masons who played such an integral part in the foundation of the colony. Some of the Lodge furniture will also be on display in the Provincial Council Chambers on the day.
