Implements, Instruments and Curious Inventions: Early Tools of Trade
Step back in time and take a look at equipment and utensils used by the men and women who helped shape our district. See displays of old farming, commercial, domestic, medical and veterinary tools and machinery. Live demonstrations including wood turning. Don't miss the blokes' shed.

Beyond the Ashley: North Canterbury Settlers at Balcairn Cemetery
Balcairn Cemetery is the resting place of many pioneers who settled the land and established towns and businesses in North Canterbury. Free guided tours of Balcairn Cemetery will be conducted by Kowai Archives volunteers.
The Kowai Archives headquarters, which holds many records on early settlers, will also be open at these times including Wednesday 27 October from 1-4pm.

Kaiapoi Royal Heritage Week – Royal Coronation Anniversary and Fundraise Ball
The ball is being held in honour of His Majesty King Arthur III of New Albion (formally known as the Waimakariri District). Chief Hemi of Tuahiwi will be present to help with the celebrations. Entertainment includes the Mainland Band, the Kaiapoi Theatre Company, an opera diva, and, of course, a royal jester.
Dress code is period costume.
